Daru Airport (IATA: DAU, ICAO: AYDU) is located in Daru City, Daru Province, in the western province of Papua New Guinea, and is the only international airport in the province. The airport is located approximately 7 km from Daru city center and 20 km from the city of Port Moresby, the capital of Daru province.
Construction of Daru Airport began in 1962 and was completed in 1966, making it one of the oldest airports in Papua New Guinea. The airport has a 2,400-meter runway that can accommodate large passenger aircraft. The airport has a terminal building with services such as security screening, baggage claim, business center and café.
Daru Airport is the base for Papua New Guinea`s domestic airline, Air Niugini, and is a transit point for international airlines Virgin Australia, Air Niugini and Air New Zealand. The airport operates up to 20 flights daily, connecting Daru City with Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and other countries and regions.
