Changdu Bangda Airport (IATA: BPX, ICAO: ZUBD), located in Changdu City, Tibet Autonomous Region, China, is the only civil airport in the Tibet Autonomous Region and the only international airport in the Tibet Autonomous Region. Changdu Bangda Airport was officially opened to traffic on December 28, 2006, and is the first international airport in the Tibet Autonomous Region. The airport is located about 20 kilometers west of Changdu city, about 25 kilometers from Changdu city center, about 30 kilometers from Changdu city government and about 35 kilometers from Changdu city airport. The airport covers an area of about 3.5 square kilometers and is built with a 2.8-kilometer-long runway that can accommodate large passenger aircraft such as A320 and B737 at the same time. The airport has an international terminal building, which can accommodate 500 people in and out at the same time and can meet the demand for domestic and international passenger transportation.
