Chinese Students and Scholars Association at UCLA is an officially registered student organization of UCLA. Currently CSSA-UCLA has over 3,000 members who are mainly UCLA students, scholars, faculty and staff originally from China. With the academic prestige of UCLA and our large membership, CSSA-UCLA has been an active and influential force in sponsoring and organizing activities on the UCLA campus and in the Chinese community of Southern California.

In the past several years, CSSA-UCLA has organized many large events, including the donation for Sichuan earthquake in May 2008, the Cultural Fair in February 2002, the Chinese New Year Party of 2001, the Chinese Cultural Party in 1999, Cultural Night in 1998, Hong Kong 1997 celebration and the 1996 Chinese New Year celebration. These activities attracted over 1000 students, scholars and influential VIPs in Southern California, including the Consul General of China in Los Angeles, Chair of Dashew International Student Center at UCLA, and Vice Chancellor of UCLA.

Besides these large events, the main focus of CSSA-UCLA has always been to serve the UCLA Chinese community. Our regular activities range from semi-weekly Info Exchange to bi-weekly Chinese movie shows, quarterly dancing parties, outdoor trips, etc.

The CSSA-UCLA Committee, elected each year, always consists of a group of CSSA members with leadership and devotion. Their voluntary work has produced not only major events, but also excellent regular activities and services for our members.

The current committee, is resolute in fostering a strong CSSA community at UCLA, and its relationship to the larger Chinese and American society. We established several Special Interest Clubs, including Photography, Movie, Sports, Outdoor, etc. CSSA Members are thus able to communicate with those in common interests. We regularly hold seminars on various topics, among which are new students` issues, career development, and graduate life. We also expanded our English Conversion and Language & Culture Exchange programs. We dedicated these efforts with the hope in building a strong and open Chinese Community at UCLA.
