Established in 1987, CSSA-Sheffield is a non-political, non-religious and non-profit organization, which organizes, sponsors, and supports various social and cultural activities among Chinese students and scholars studying or working in Sheffield. The association also maintains close connections with the intellectual community in China and other CSSA members across the UK.

CSSA-Sheffield aims to represent the views and interests of its members; to enhance the well-being of its members and their families; to provide assistance to its members in their academic studies and daily lives; to promote understanding of the Chinese culture, and to maintain friendly relations with all people in Sheffield.
