Vancouver Chinese Singers (VCS) is a BC government registered non-profit organization, established in 1984 by a group of enthusiastic music-loving Chinese Canadians. The members felt that through music they could express their warm memories and yearning for their homeland.
In addition to one or two concert performances per year, VCS (Yuan Dao) has also participated in many Canadian activities and charitable events, including: Performances by invitation at EXPO ’86 and at the 2003 Taiwan Cultural Festival in Vancouver; A concert, entitled “An Evening with Yuan Dao”, in 1997 (Canada’s Year of Asia-Pacific) sponsored by the Foreign Affairs Department of Canada; Fund-raising concerts for Vancouver’s Children’s Hospital and earthquake victims in Taiwan. They have also visited local hospitals and senior nursing homes occasionally.
