Columbia University Chinese Students and Scholars Association (CUCSSA) was established in 1996 as an officially recognized student group. Now it is one of the biggest and most prominent overseas Chinese organizations on the east coast of the United States. Besides Columbia students, CUCSSA also has members of Columbia Chinese alumni and overseas Chinese who have joined the organization.
Since its very beginning, CUCSSA has been devoting itself to the mission of enhancing the political and cultural exchanges between China and the U.S., projecting positive Chinese influences into the American society, serving its members and enriching their cultural lives. In its recently amended constitution, the mission of facilitating the perceptions of China`s peaceful rise was added to ensure the formation of a peaceful and harmonic political environment at the place where Chinese people live.
In prior years, we launched a series of campaigns and hosted a variety of events, which contributed widely to the well being of the Chinese community here in the United States and have been widely reported by American and Chinese media.
